Velvet Lounge and Casanova
This stylish, ambient pair of lounge and Italian restaurant is located in a little house on Julu Rd, around the corner from HuaShan Rd. Unlike the row of seedy bars next door targeting traveling business men, Velvet and Casanova are frequented by local residents. Velvet is a relaxing hideout with great music and reasonably priced cocktails, perfect for an intimate week-night date. Upstairs at Casanova, you can get a nice multi-course Italian meal. A lot of people like their thin-crust pizzas, which you can also order from Velvet. I also like their Caesar salad and breads. This place is definitely not one of those big productions on the Bund, but it's nice to have some place like this in the neighborhood.

回覆刪除it is unfortunate that the velvet management decides to hire the most obnoxious, arrogant, ignorant, racist bouncer and places him at the door to manage the new queue system.
回覆刪除it all happened last saturday night at around 3am.. he called me "stupid" when i tripped and fell and broke the barrier which apparently breaks easily. and when i confronted him on how rude he was to call on a velvet customer as "stupid" on no grounds, he said "i don't think your english is good enough to understand me, so please step aside".
i get all these attacks simply because i am asian (i'm from singapore by the way, and for those who knows the least about singapore, we are pretty well educated in english).
look out for him.. he calls himself Robert and no last name was provided ( i actually wondered if Robert is his real name ). he sounded american.. he's got a shaved head.. african american skin tone..
it is a huge pity for THE great, fun, cool velvet to have someone like that who is abusing his rights as a bouncer, showing complete disrespect for velvet's customers and making the usually fun experience of going to velvet now a horrible one.
i frequently go to velvet for drinks and have fun with my friends for the last two years because of the great fun we get there. but its no fun anymore. i was litterally "slapped" even before entering.
i urge the management of velvet to review this situation and the necessary action towards this "Robert" bouncer.
